We’re going to have some pretty amazing people at school this year. The 2011 – 2012 school year has some big changes happening, especially because all students from grade 1 to 7 will now be at Sunset. Cheslakees will be for kindergarten classes and maybe early learning and daycare.
Ms. MacKinnon, will continue to be our school secretary. She is the person to see if you’re new to Port McNeill and need to register at Sunset. Registration for new students starts on August 29th. This is also when students will know who their teacher is by checking at the front of the school. If you’re new and want to register earlier than August 29th, please send a fax to (250) 956-4118 and either she or Ms. Sweeney, the Principal will send a registeration form for you to fill in and send back to the school – Ms. Mackinnon is in and out of the school at various times throughout the summer.
Ms. Sweeney will continue to be the principal of Sunset Elementary School. It will be her second year as the principal and as you can see, she’s already at the school working to get things set up for the 2011 -2012 year. She is the person to speak to about problems, concerns and of course, compliments. She will be very busy this year due to all the changes our school will be going through. She is the one parents need to speak to at the beginning of the year if they have concerns or suggestions for the upcoming year.
Mr. Baker is our new vice-principal. Did you know he’s 6 foot, 6 inches tall? He has come with his familly from Alberta to live in Port McNeill. Our Class would like to welcome them and hope they enjoy this wonderful community and the people who live in it.
There are many other people who work at Sunset Elementary School who make it the great place it is. We’ll tell you more about them when we know who will be working and helping on a regular basis.
