The Balloon Story by Kayla

Imagine your most favourite spot in the world or a place you like to visit.

At this spot, you are waiting to leave with a group of people on a hot-air balloon.  Three of you all won a trip on this balloon.  As you step into the balloon with the other two people you accidentally kick the rope that was holding the balloon to the ground. It suddenly lifts off the ground without the person who was going to take the three of you on the tour.

“Tyanna, Lily and I were waiting for Lily’s dad to finish his lunch so we could go for a hot air balloon ride. I got bored so I said, “let’s just go now.”  But they said “No.”

Finally, it was my turn but when I was getting in I tripped over a rock and fell into the basket knocking the ropes lose.  Suddenly the balloon took off into the air, leaving our tour guide behind. I was having a hard time holding on, I lay on the floor screaming with my eyes closed. I looked up I saw two boys staring at me. They looked about my age. One of the boys said “calm down” The other boy said “don’t worry, we will figure this out.” I looked at them and said, “What are your names?” In a very soft voice one boy said “Liam” The other said “my name is Riley, let’s play a game of black shoe, black shoe to see who will be the person to take charge. Liam was out of the game right away, and then I beat Riley so that meant I was in charge of this terrifying balloon ride. I stood up and grabbed the ropes and took control. Riley could see Disneyland in the distance so I guided the balloon toward the big mountain called the Matterhorn. It was very easy to control once I got used to it.

We safely landed and had a great day meeting all the characters and riding all the rides. It turned out to be the best day ever. We flew in a plane safely back to our families the next day.”
