Port McNeill, British Columbia

port_mcneillDo you know any Port McNeill? Well, I do and I’m going to tell you all the town history I know. I think I know quite a bit.

My great-grandfather Stu Robertson was the first mayor of Port McNeill. He passed away a few years ago. He’s my dad’s grandpa or my papa’s dad. He was 82 years old when he passed away. He also wrote the bylaw to enact the fire department in 1951. In the year 2000, the park on Cedar Street was named after him. It is called Robertson Park.

My papa was on the fire department for 25 years. He was a fire chief for 5 years. My dad was a fireman for 14 years. My papa used to live in Port McNeill. There is a bench in front of the fire hall. That’s my nana’s bench from when she passed away.

That’s the history I know. I love and miss both my great-grandfather Stuart and my nana Marion.
